Art and Community

I worked in community arts from 1970s, inititiating and developing writing and arts projects with many different groups and organisations, including the following:

Poetry Readings • 1976-80
I set up a series of poetry readings with the following poets: Brian Nuttal, Brian Patten, Roger McGough, Frances Horovitz, Michael Horovitz, Ivor Cutler, Phyllis King, Angie Gilligan.

Word & Action (Dorset) Ltd

As a writer/facilitator/publisher, I worked with local history, womens’ and community groups.

Behind Wise Eyes – an arts in education intergenerational project involving older people at Dorchester Hospital and local schools working with writer, Gill Horitz, artist, Jonathan Korejko, bookbinder Gavin Rookledge and calligrapher, Liz Farquharson.  

Artshare South West (later known as Equata) 
The regional arts and disability organisation which promoted and developed equal opportunities and access to the arts. As Arts Animateur, I developed and ran writing groups and  arts projects in consultation with disabled people
  
As Arts Development Officer at Bournemouth Borough Council I developed and managed a range of arts projects including literature & writing groups, arts and disability, public art and street arts.

A large-scale street arts event with Emergency Exit Arts, involving community, and working in partnership with Bournemouth Univiersity, AUB, and schools and community.
